The Kentucky State Fair 2011
It's that time again! This year the Kentucky State Fair is open from Thursday, August 18th through Sunday, August 28th, at the Kentucky Exposition Center. It's YOUR Fair and it showcases our state's culture, agriculture, and heritage. The Kentucky State Fair provides a place for us to come together as a community, have a good time and even learn things in the process.
Top Five Things To Do at This Year's Kentucky State Fair

Artists scheduled to perform at the fair are: Lady Antebellum, Lee Brice, Def Leppard, Heart, Jason Aldean, Chris Young & Thompson Square, Maroon 5, Train, Ted Nugent, Boys II Men, Candlebox, Oakridge Boys, Tenth Avenue North and more!
2. Rides & Games - Describe the rides at the Kentucky State Fair in one word? Thrillway. Yes, that is what the rides and games section of the Kentucky State Fair is called. Year after year, Thrillway is dedicated to providing lots of fun and games to be had for all ages! The Thrillway opens at 2pm on weekdays and Noon on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
3. Fair Food- Funnel Cakes, Elephant Ears, Corndogs, and BBQ have been known as fair classics and returning this year are some newer favorites. You might want to try the Kirspy Kreme Doughnut Burger or a Fried Derbie Pie from Kern's Kitchen. This year, fairs have seen a couple peculiar albeit taste-bud-tastic hits in the fair food arena. The buzz is that many fair-goers are looking forward to getting in on some Deep Fried Kool-Aid and even trying out an intriguing recipe called the Maple Bacon Sundae!
4. 4-H & FFA Exhibits - The 4-H and FFA programs continue to create a positive difference within today's youth. There is much to appreciate about all the effort behind the many award-winning livestock, poultry, pigeons, and rabbits on display. The diversity of skills developed through these programs are further presented in competitions for championship in categories ranging from horticulture, to mechanics, woodworking, entomology, geology, clothing, consumer science management, country hams, photography and more!
5. World's Championship Horse Show- Each year, more than 2,000 horses are entered in this prestigious competition to be crowned as the Champion Saddlebred in various divisions.
